Newtown Creek Nature Walk

The Newtown Creek Nature Walk is a head-scratcher. It is actually much nicer than I expected. Too bad it kinda smells like poo...

Moma Action

Made it to the Moma just in the nick of time to check out Mike and Doug Starn's bamboo installation. Solid way to spend a weekend afternoon indeed.

The last of Jordan Manly's Episodes is as good as the rest. Now all I can do is wait in agony for the snow to fly...

Part Deux

La Grave: A Skier's Journey Ep2 from Jordan Manley Photography on Vimeo.

Gorgeous shots, interesting narrative and some sequences that brought on a bit of the ole knee-knock. In short, a complete package.

Bring on #3!

Kashmir: A Skier's Journey

Kashmir - A Skier's Journey: Ep1 from Jordan Manley Photography on Vimeo.

I absolutely love this.

Its very refreshing to see more and more ski films coming out that go beyond the 15 second clips of 14 year olds throwing back flips off of tabletops. Not that I don't find the clips of the young ones impressive - they're constantly pushing the boundaries of the sport and causing it to progress by leaps and bounds.

However, I love it when I come across a piece of work that takes a step back from the sport and allows the viewer to get a sense of the particular place and culture that the athletes happen to find themselves in. I'll probably never make it to Kashmir myself but it's great to see there are others out there willing and able to do the exploring so that the rest of us can watch and dream....

Jordan Manly I anxiously await Episode #2!

Is it Time for a Switch?

Is it worth the effort to start fresh after 20+ years riding alpine? Poses a strong case for sure....One mystery remains - what in the world am I still doing on the East Coast!?!?

Summer Decides To Show Up Early

This weekend's hot weather was quite a shock to the system. Since my apartment was stifling, the obvious decision was to stay out in the blazing sun all day and beat the heat by sparking up some coals. Since I had never grilled ribs before and generally suffer from an irrational fear of failure, I turned to a trusted source and found a recipe and some tips here.

The process was a bit hot and smokey but well worth it. The ribs were falling off the bone and had a sneaky spiciness to them that received thumbs up all around. Only regret was not having room for another rack on the grill....
